History of the UKCTTA

In 2001, the idea of establishing an organization to support Chinese table tennis players in the UK arose during an informal meeting between Javad Ameri and Peter Tan, while they were observing their National Cadet League players in action. Subsequently, they agreed to initiate efforts aimed at establishing a table tennis organization to represent all players in the UK.

Shortly afterward, Peter Tan proposed that Perry Fung join them to participate in the association, and later, David Fung also agreed to join. However, after a few months, Peter Tan informed the group that he would need to reduce his commitment to establishing the association due to his workload.

Meanwhile, David Man, a friend of Javad’s who was a badminton player, volunteered to oversee the finance section since he was an accountant. Charles Ho then took over as our accountant, and Peter Young was appointed as our tournament organizer.

Due to Peter Tan’s absence, David Fong agreed to serve as chairman, with Perry Fong as secretary, Peter Young as tournament organizer, and Javad Ameri as the director of development.
